How much exercise does it take to ward off long-term weight gain? Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston studied more than 34,000 women starting at an average age of 54, following and updating their activity level for 13 years. The women were divided into three groups. They found for normal weight, middle-aged women who eat a regular diet, 60 minutes of daily exercise is recommended just to maintain and not gain weight as they age.
