All three of the Kingdom's competitors failed at their first hurdles. Chhoun Sarun was beaten 2-1 by Marc Arakilo in his finweight (50-54 kilogram) preliminary Sunday, Som Elit lost 4-1 to Rizal Samsir of Indonesia in the heavyweight (over 84kg) class quarterfinals also on Sunday, and Chhoeung Puthearim completed the misery with a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Sangnarin Prapaporn of Thailand in the women's flyweight (47-51kg) preliminary Monday. Taekwondo is one of nine martial arts contested, with other disciplines including karate, muay Thai, kickboxing, jujitsu, judo, kurash, wushu and kung fu, and pencak silat.
