All three of the Kingdom's competitors failed at their first hurdles. Chhoun Sarun was beaten 2-1 by Marc Arakilo in his finweight (50-54 kilogram) preliminary Sunday, Som Elit lost 4-1 to Rizal Samsir of Indonesia in the heavyweight (over 84kg) class quarterfinals also on Sunday, and Chhoeung Puthearim completed the misery with a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Sangnarin Prapaporn of Thailand in the women's flyweight (47-51kg) preliminary Monday. Taekwondo is one of nine martial arts contested, with other disciplines including karate, muay Thai, kickboxing, jujitsu, judo, kurash, wushu and kung fu, and pencak silat. South Korea are currently leading the overall medals table with nine golds, four silvers and two bronze medals; Kazakhstan are in second, Japan third, hosts Thailand fourth and Pakistan fifth.
